Two Great Discoveries For Greg This Week!

Setting aside my quoatations for a moment, I have made two great discoveries in my life this week. They both led to transitions of sorts:

1) I transitioned from my coffee maker to a coffee press.

2) I transitioned from briefs to boxers.

I highly recommend both of those changes (though for different reasons). Why didn't I discover the beauty of either sooner?

Belonging Together

"The community of faith is the place where many stories about the way of Jesus are being told. Thes stories can be very different from each other. They might even seem to conflict.

But as we keep listening attentively to the Spirit manifesting itself through many people, in words as well as in silence, through confrontation as well as invitation, in gentleness as well as firmness, with tears as well as smiles, -- then we can gradually discern that we belong together, as one body knitted together by the Spirit of Jesus."

My Apologetic

"Now -- here is my secret:

I tell it . . . with an openness of heart . . . I doubt I shall ever achieve again, so I pray that you are in a quiet room as you hear these words. My secret is that I need God -- that I am sick and can no longer make it alone. I need God to help me give, because I no longer seem to be capable of giving; to help me be kind, as I no longer seem capable of kindness; to help me live, as I seem beyond being able to live."

(from Life After God by Douglas Coupland)
