Boys of Summer, Hoosier Hysteria, Etc.

Long time, no blog. Nothing like a little sports to get me writing again.

First, pitchers and catchers have reported to Spring Training. Glory be! This is the Cubs year -- we won the World Series in 1908, and we shall prevail again in 2008! It will be a nice poetic ending to the story.

Second, basketball is all crazy here in the Hoosier Heartland. Four Indiana college teams are nationally ranked, just as it should be. But the Pacers are just awful and not getting better, and the locals have largely abandoned them. That is not how things should be. Further, IU Coach Kelvin Sampson is going down in a blaze of recruiting violations. IU has not been involved in any such things in my lifetime. Definitely not the way things should be. As one T-Shirt says, "Bring Back Bobby." He must be laughing at this miserable nonsense. I vote to can Sampson and promote assistant Dan Dakich (a former Knight player) to the head spot.
